Free schools screenings of THE LAST TREE (15)

Picturehouse Education are thrilled to offer a limited number of FREE school screenings of fantastic British drama THE LAST TREE. It is also available to book for weekday mornings on request at all Picturehouses from £4 a student from Friday 27 September.

THE LAST TREE is a truly stunning coming of age story that will have a lasting impact on your students. A stirring study of a black teenager carving out his own identity in modern Britain, the film covers a variety of subjects including: foster care in the UK, coming of age, growing up in rural vs urban environments, single parent families, absent fathers, first love, and the choices/paths young people take towards adulthood.

It is also an excellent case study for Film & Media studies exploring the use of sound, editing and cinematography as well as marketing smaller indepent films.

A pre-recorded interview with director Shola Amoo and actor Sam Adewunmi will be shown following the screenings to give students an insight into the filmmaking process (approx 15mins).
