Below, is a selection of films suitable for GSCE + A Level PSHE and Citizenship Studies.

This stunning film is an adaptation of Patrick Ness and Siobhan Dowd’s award-winning novel A Monster Calls.13 year old Conor has trouble with bullies at school and lives with his mother, who has a life-threatening illness. One night he is visited by a monster (Neeson) who tries to help him.
The text appears on many Key Stage 3 reading lists and covers numerous key PSHE themes such as issues of family relationship dynamics, personal identity, bereavement, grief, bullying and isolation.

Power in Our Hands is a ground-breaking documentary – containing newly digitised archive footage available to the public for the first time – on the Deaf community's fight for civil rights and principally, the right to be heard. Combining social history and archive film with contemporary interviews, and released in the 125th anniversary year of the British Deaf Association, Power in Our Hands explores the secret history and heritage of the Deaf community in the UK.

9-year-old Courgette is a shy, bug-eyed kid, consigned to an orphanage after his alcoholic mother’s sudden death. However, Courgette finds a place in his new home with the other misfit children. This beautiful film shows how lessons learnt can shape a child’s character and prepare them for adult life, finding strength through trust, love and solidarity.
