We have put together a list of inspirational films by and about women that you can book to see at your local Picturehouse cinema.
Featuring strong female leads and tackling a range of struggles and challenges that have women have - and continue to - face, these films are an ideal way engage your students in discussions around some of the issues surrounding gender equality.
Many of these films also have accompanying discussion guides or teaching resources available which we will share with you at the time of booking.
Mary Poppins (U)

In one of the most beloved cinematic classics of all time, based on the popular L. Frank Baum stories, Dorothy and her dog Toto are caught in a tornado's path and somehow end up in the land of Oz. She meets some memorable friends and foes on her way to meet the Wizard of Oz, who can help her return home and possibly grant her new friends their goals of a brain, heart and courage.

Matilda (U)

Matilda is an extra-ordinarily intelligent young girl who is underappreciated by her family. While she is improving her intellectual capacity she manages to develop telekinetic powers, which she uses to take revenge on the bullying principal of her school. Danny DeVito's American adaptation of the film is both highly entertaining and unexpectedly moving.
