Author/Illustrator Events for schools at Picturehouse Cinemas
We regularly arrange author and illustrator talks at Picturehouse cinemas for nursery, primary and secondary schools.
Taking place in our cinema auditoria, and often utilising our screens and sound systems, these events are a great way to immerse your students in the experience of meeting an an author or illustrator and explore the worlds they create on the page.
We hope the events will increase your students' enthusiasm for reading, motivate them to develop their writing skills and inspire reluctant readers.

The events sometimes include a screening of a book adaptation (but not always!) and tend to involve an author or illustrator doing a reading, then discussing their work and inspiration and answering any questions from the audience, followed by book sales and the opportunity for children to meet the author and have their book signed. The events usually last 1-1.5hrs. We also often offer the opportunity to pre-order books by the visiting author/illustrator at a reduced rate, which will be ready for you to collect and pay for at the cinema on the day.

Upcoming Events
Reading and Q&A with Fabi Santiago, author of Daisy & Bear and Paws Off My Book
+ screening of The Gruffalo
We are thrilled to present a very special event celebrating storytelling and illustration in partnership with Scholastic and Waterstones Greenwich.
Join author & illustrator Fabi Santiago for a fun-filled storytime and activity session. She'll read her hilarious book, Daisy and Bear, which follows the adventures of Daisy, who loves the cinema, and Bear, who has never been before... so all sorts of trouble unfolds when Daisy takes Bear for the first time!
Fabi will tell you all about what inspires her stories, show you how she draws her characters, and answer any questions from the audience. Daisy and Bear colouring sheets will also be provided so that you can get creative back at school.
Then we'll settle down and go on a journey into the deep, dark wood another great storybook character, The Gruffalo, with a screening of Julia Donaldson's modern classic.

More about DAISY AND BEAR
What could possibly go wrong when you take a bear to the cinema? EVERYTHING!
Daisy loves the cinema, but Bear has never been. As the film starts, she munches, crunches and slurps through her treats. She needs the loo. She laughs, in all the wrong places, and takes a phone call. Everyone is fed up with the bear, but when the film suddenly stops, Bear knows just how to get the crowd cheering...
