Celebrate World Book Day at The Little Theatre Cinema, Bath in association with Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights

Date: Monday 27th February, 10am-11am

Suitable for: KS2
Price: £2.50 per student
Author: Anna Wilson

Join bestselling author Anna Wilson at The Little Theatre Picturehouse as she shares the hilarious stories that have inspired her books - from puppies behaving badly in puppy training and cheeky underpants-stealing monkeys on safari to embarrassing mum stories and bad dad jokes, it's not hard to see where Anna Wilson gets her story ideas from! Find out which Big Friendly (or was he?) children's author inspired Anna as a child to become an author herself, and have an opportunity to ask a real life author all your questions.

Anna Wilson used to edit children’s books until she discovered it was much more fun to write them. She took a flying leap from being an editor to being a fully-fledged author in 2008 and has never looked back. Inspired by her family, friends and pets, she writes funny, uplifting and thoughtful novels which are absolutely NOT based on any mortifyingly embarrassing incidents which have happened to her in the past. Anna lives in Bradford on Avon with her husband, two children and an array of pets including a dog, cats, a tortoise and a pair of extremely noisy ducks.

Celebrate World Book Day with author Julia Lee at Duke's at Komedia Picturehouse Brighton

Date: Thursday 2 March, 10am to approx. 11.10am - This Event is now FULL UP.

Suitable for: For KS2 (Years 4-6)
Price: £2.50 per students
Author: Julia Lee
Julia Lee wanted to be a writer from the age of 5, even though she had no idea how it might happen and didn’t know anyone who could help. Join Julia to hear how her dream turned into reality, why she was inspired to write mystery adventures set in the past, and all about her latest character, a 1920s housemaid-turned-detective, in the new Nancy Parker crime series. Learn about the process of writing and being published and get some top tips on creating amazing stories.

The illustrated talk - including pictures of the ‘book’ Julia wrote when she was 5, and her unhelpful cat - will last for 45 minutes, followed by around 20 minutes for Q & A to give your students a chance to ask a professional writer all about life as an author. There will also be an opportunity to buy Julia’s latest book, followed by a book signing.

Julia Lee has been making up stories for as long as she can remember. She wrote her first book aged 5, mainly so that she could do all the illustrations with a brand-new 4-colour pen, and her mum stitched the pages together on her sewing machine. Julia grew up in London, but moved to the seaside to study English at university, and has stayed there ever since. Julia is married, has two sons, and lives in Sussex.
